About Me:

I am a graduate of Computer Games Technology from the University of the West of Scotland. Graduating with a 2:1 Honours degree. The Computer Games Technology degree is one of only 2 fully skillset accredited computer science based courses for the computer games industry within the UK.

I am currently working at Weeworld as a Mobile Software Developer.

About Programming:

During my degree, I went on to research MMORPG Server Technologies, and actually construct a basic cluster server design. I used this server to test several theories and check the potential of my clustering techniques. This is all detailed in my ePortfolio. After this and the successful graduation, I spent the last year working as a manager with O2 and doing Indie work at home myself. I completed a game which I have since ported to the iPhone (currently waiting approval), however the full fledged version has been updated for release and has many strong features. Im looking forward to this being my first fully published game.

I started programming in the early years of High School, before they introduced us to it in class. My key interest came as I was playing Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun. Seeing the active modding community, I took it upon myself to develop some mods to really extend the life of the game for myself and friends. After this, I found myself quite involved and enjoying programming. I moved onto true basic then visual basic within school, working on my own within my class, then supporting the computing staff in my 6th year as a Buddy Mentor type role, helping the younger students learn programming. Helping support them with all sorts of programming challenges and really building up their strength in the field.

I then went onto University, where they introduced us to C/C++, C# and Java. Throughout my 4 years at University my course focused extremely heavily on developing best practice and strengths for us in terms of C/C++ Game programming as well as Java. In our 3rd Year I put allot of work into our main game project, where as a team we had to develop a game and design it from scratch (with the timescales of 1 year to develop it). Our team went with a network based RTS game (Networking was never attempted by any other students), we managed to complete this and have a fully scalable network RTS 3D game running that allowed users to move around near each other, attack each other and place structures.
